Our Commitment
At Fabric Group, we are committed to conducting our business with honesty, integrity, and respect for the human rights and dignity of all people. We respect and support the International Bill of Human Rights (including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) and the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
We strive to ensure that our operations and business relationships do not infringe upon human rights, and we are committed to remediating any adverse impacts that may occur.
Our Core Principles
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and suppliers of Fabric Group. We strictly adhere to the following standards, aligned with the Articles of the UDHR:
1. Dignity, Equality & Non-Discrimination (Articles 1, 2, 6, 7)
- Freedom & Dignity: We believe all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights [UDHR Art. 1]. We treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
- Non-Discrimination: We do not tolerate discrimination in hiring, compensation, access to training, promotion, or termination based on race, colour, gender, religion, age, social origin, disability, sexual orientation, political opinion, property, birth, or other status [UDHR Art. 2].
- Equality Before the Law: We recognise everyone as a person before the law and entitle everyone to equal protection against discrimination [UDHR Art. 6, 7].
- Vulnerable & Marginalised Groups: We recognise that certain groups, including Indigenous peoples, migrant workers, and persons with disabilities may face increased risks of rights violations. We are committed to identifying and addressing these unique vulnerabilities to ensure equitable treatment and inclusion across our operations.
2. Life, Liberty & Security of Person (Articles 3, 5, 9, 12)
- Safety & Security: Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person [UDHR Art. 3]. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, complying with all applicable health and safety laws and regulations.
- No Harassment or Abuse: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment [UDHR Art. 5]. We maintain a workplace free from physical, psychological, verbal, or sexual harassment.
- Privacy: No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with their privacy, family, home, or correspondence [UDHR Art. 12]. We protect the personal data and privacy of our employees and customers.
3. Freely Chosen Employment (Articles 4, 13, 21)
- No Forced Labour: We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and forced labour. No one shall be held in slavery or servitude [UDHR Art. 4].
- Freedom of Movement: All work must be voluntary. Employees are free to leave their employment after reasonable notice and have the right to freedom of movement within the workplace and to leave the country [UDHR Art. 13].
- Recruitment Fees: We do not retain original identity documents or charge recruitment fees to workers.
- Due Diligence: In line with our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, we conduct rigorous, risk-based due diligence and periodic audits across our supply chain to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate human rights risks, ensuring full transparency and adherence to this policy.
4. Fair Work & Economic Rights (Articles 17, 22, 23, 24, 25)
- Right to Work: Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, and to just and favourable conditions of work [UDHR Art. 23].
- Fair Wages: Everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for themselves and their family an existence worthy of human dignity [UDHR Art. 23]. We comply with all applicable wage laws, including minimum wages and strive to support an adequate standard of living [UDHR Art. 25].
- Working Hours & Rest: Everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay [UDHR Art. 24]. We comply with all laws regarding overtime hours and mandatory breaks.
- Property: We respect the right to own property alone as well as in association with others [UDHR Art. 17].
- Social Security: We respect the right to social security and the realisation of economic, social, and cultural rights indispensable for dignity [UDHR Art. 22].
5. Freedom of Association & Expression (Articles 18, 19, 20)
- Freedom of Association: We respect the right of all employees to form and join trade unions of their choice and to bargain collectively [UDHR Art. 20, 23]. Where restricted by law, we facilitate parallel means of independent and free association.
- Freedom of Opinion: Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference [UDHR Art. 19] and freedom of thought, conscience, and religion [UDHR Art. 18].
6. No Child Labour & Right to Education (Article 26)
- Minimum Age: We strictly prohibit the use of child labour. We do not employ anyone under the age of 15 (or the local legal minimum age, whichever is higher).
- Protection of Young Workers: Where we employ young workers (individuals above the legal minimum age but under 18 for the purpose of i.e. Work experience or internship), we ensure they are protected from work that is likely to be hazardous, interfere with their education, or be harmful to their health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development.
- Education & Development: Everyone has the right to education [UDHR Art. 26]. We support the effective abolition of child labour in our supply chain and enable professional development,through training and on the job experience for our staff.
7. Justice & Rule of Law (Articles 8, 10, 11, 28, 29, 30)
- Fair Treatment: We ensure fair and public processes for any internal disciplinary actions, respecting the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise [UDHR Art. 10, 11].
- Remedy: We are committed to providing effective remedy for any acts violating fundamental rights granted by this policy or the law [UDHR Art. 8].
- Community Duty: We acknowledge our duties to the community in which the free and full development of the personality is possible [UDHR Art. 29].
8. Grievance
At Fabric Group, we believe in a procedural fairness that protects team members from victimisation or retaliation. Any employee, contractor or supplier can report a violation following the Grievance and Whistleblower policy.
Implementation & Governance
Responsibility for this policy rests with the Chief Operating Officer & Co-founder, Simon Greed. This policy is communicated to all employees upon induction and is available to all staff. We expect our suppliers and business partners to uphold these same principles.
